Whereas My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was a cathartic, internal exploration in identity, loss, and ego, Watch The Throne is a monument of vanity, a self-proclaimed right to a legacy, a proclamation of the mastery Kanye has achieved in his craft; less a heart-on-sleeve confession and more a line drawn in the sand. Nevertheless, it will probably stand as a landmark in rap history, akin to Jay’s The Blueprint albums.
